Anacortes is the grand central station for the San Juan Island ferry system. From here you can hop a ferry to Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas or San Juan. This sleepy beach town provides one of the best whale watching opportunities anywhere in the world, offering calm waters and a huge variety of widelife, which includes three resident Orca pods.
